Lakes Community High School

Our theme for iCan 2014 is inspired by the Project CRISS Framework for Teaching and the domains of “PLAN, PREPARE, ENGAGE, REFLECT” as the driving force behind lesson planning and instruction. Technology tools can be used to enhance these domains.

PLAN: The PLAN domain focuses on the teacher preparation and planning for the lesson, classroom schedules, and activities. Tech tools under this domain will pertain to calendars, web sites, and designing and implementing online student learning platforms for classroom use.

PREPARE: Tools presented under the PREPARE domain will be geared towards preparing STUDENTS for learning, through activating prior background knowledge and understanding. These tech tools will focus on collaboration, and effective and efficient ways for students to share their knowledge quickly at the beginning of a lesson or unit.

ENGAGE: Tools presented within the ENGAGE domain will focus on student engagement within a lesson, and helpful technology to allow meaningful student work, and effective and timely feedback on student understanding and mastery of content.

REFLECT: The REFLECT domain allows students to reflect on their learning process and content, and use technology to keep a log of their learning experiences, both short and long term. These tech tools will focus on methods for students to share reflections with their teachers and peers, and demonstrate their learning process through a poignant conversation.

Want to present?

The conference committee is looking for sessions that demonstrate the wide variety of ways that technology can enhance a teacher's ability to effectively organize classroom materials (PLAN), prepare students for learning (PREPARE), create interactive lessons (ENGAGE), and facilitate student reflection (REFLECT).

Presentations can vary in length and style, and can include “workshop” time for attendees to work exclusively with presenters during sessions.

Click here to submit a proposal - http://goo.gl/7dQayW

The committee will review your submission and respond by mid-May.

If you have questions or need assistance, please direct your inquiries to Ryan Miles (ryan.miles@chsd117.org).
