iMovie
iMovie is Apple's video editing software. It allows users to easily import video, capture video, and edit video. Users can add music, text overlays, voiceovers, transitions, and more to their videos. It is simple to export and share your completed videos, too. Typically, iMovie is viewed as slightly more challenging to use than Windows MovieMaker and easier to use than Final Cut.
iMovie in Education
- Students primarily use the increasingly relevant skill of creativity to craft their original videos.
- Creating videos also requires students to collaborate, synthesize, organize, and more.
- Videos provide an opportunity for students to have a real audience, which research shows is the best way to motivate students to put forth their best effort.
- Putting together a video in an engaging activity for students.
Educational Examples & Helpful Handouts
Students can complete an array of projects for any type of class or unit, such as:
· Commercials
· Podcasts
· News Broadcasts
· Interpretations (of literature, history, etc.)
· Music videos
· Trailers (for books, movies, etc.)
Although the students' final products are important, the skills the students use to achieve that product is the reason to incorporate a video editing experience into your curriculum.
